I am looking for anything Cuban to learn and discover. I have raided iTunes for as many Cuba related podcasts as I could find & there are a many.

Some podcasts blatant puff pieces for large hotel chains with multiple resorts in Varadero. No thanks! We don’t want a resort holiday in Cuba. Casa particulars ‘private house’ are our preferred accommodation. We want to meet Cubans.

I’ve listened to the PRI podcast about Hemmingway’s house that about 10 miles from Havana. Many photos of the house are online.

In another podcast I learned about the filmmaker Camila Guzmán Urzúa’s documentary ‘The Sugar Curtain’ (view the YouTube trailer) which is an autobiographical portrait of the filmmaker, moved with her family to Cuba in 1973. She leaves Cuba in 1990 but in this documentary she returns to Havana to reflect on her childhood and adolescence during the “golden years” of the Cuban Revolution.
